Application Process

Applying for the Essential Class generally follows the following schedule: applications are available for download on this page in early April; completed applications are due to the Leadership Austin office in mid-June; acceptance letters are mailed in early August; and the class begins in September. Essential FAQs

Please note that all applicants must meet the following qualifications:

Applicant is at least 28 years of age as of the application deadline.
Applicant has lived continuously in the Greater Austin area for one year as of the application deadline.
Applicant cannot be a candidate for public office at the time of application.
Applicant is willing and able to commit the time necessary to complete the program. Mandatory time commitments are outlined in the application form.
