Application Process

Applying for the Essential Class generally follows the following schedule: applications are available for download on this page beginning in April; completed applications are due back to the Leadership Austin office in June; candidates are notified of their selection status in early August; and the program begins in September.

Please note that all applicants must meet the following qualifications:

• Applicant is at least 28 years of age as of the application deadline.
• Applicant has lived continuously in the Greater Austin area for one year as of the application deadline.
• Applicant cannot be a candidate for public office at the time of application.
• Applicant is willing and able to commit the time necessary to complete the program. Mandatory time commitments are outlined in the application form.
